In a horrific swarm, the insects descended on the team!

“Somebody get the door!” Buzz and Izzy shouted in unison.

Scrambling, the team rushed forward and slammed the locker-area gate closed just in time. The bugs angrily clawed at the fence, their appendages reaching through the bars.

“Well, I’m going to be blunt here,” Mo said. “I wish that hadn’t happened.”

“So do the rest of us!” Darby snapped.

“Everyone grab a weapon!” Buzz ordered, tossing the team blasters from the ammo cart.

“Boy, I’d love to,” Darby said. “But my parole—”

“As a Star Command officer, I grant you authority,” Buzz directed. “We’re going to blast our way out of here.”

Darby smiled and grabbed a weapon. “Now we’re talking.”

“Buzz,” Sox said seriously, “the probability of surviving a frontal attack is only thirty-eight point two percent.”

“Seems a bit low,” said Mo.

“Oh! What about stealth mode?” said Izzy, pointing to a button on Buzz’s chest plate.

“How do you know about stealth mode?” Buzz asked, surprised.

“Grandma and I used to play stealth mode all the time,” Izzy explained. “It was like hide-and-seek, but with a twist.”

“Okay, well, it’s actually good thinking,” Buzz said. “I’ll use stealth mode to disorient them.”

Izzy pointed at the other three Space Ranger suits. “Or…and stick with me here. We could all use stealth mode and just walk right out.”

Buzz hesitated. Not just anyone could wear a Space Ranger suit.

Izzy showed him a nameplate on one of the suits. “This one even has my name on it!”

Despite himself, Buzz was impressed. It was a good plan. Everyone would use stealth mode. Buzz and Sox would head to the Armadillo, and the rest of the group would go in the opposite direction, toward the truck.

A few minutes later, the team of four stood suited up and at the ready.

“Check it out! I’m Feathers…Featherin…Featherinsham…,” said Mo, trying to read the long name. He noticed a small pen tucked into the chest plate of the suit. “Oh, look! A pen! Cool! Does yours have a pen?”

“Okay, pay attention,” Buzz instructed. “Stealth mode is fairly simple. There are just two parts. You press the button—”

“Is it this button?” Mo interrupted, pointing to a bright red button on his suit.

“I will tell you which button,” Buzz said.

“What does this button do?” Mo pointed to a shiny blue button instead.

Buzz waved Mo’s question away. “I’m sorry, we’re not going to have time to go over all the buttons.”

“Okay, what about this thing?” Mo reached for a red pull tab on the side of his suit.

“No!” Buzz grabbed his hand. “That’s the surrender string. You never pull that.”

“There is no more shameful maneuver for a Space Ranger,” Izzy said seriously.

“Excuse me, did I miss which button is the stealth mode button?” Darby asked, annoyed.

“You push this button!” Frustrated, Buzz jabbed his finger at a bright green button on the chest plate. “But not yet!” He grabbed Mo’s hand again just as the cadet’s finger hovered over the button. “You push this button, then you go out the front door, and I’ll go blow up the Zurg ship.
